Through our personalized, hands-on approach, we tailor every program to meet individual needs and goals. Our highly trained professionals provide compassionate support, focusing on skill-building, employment opportunities, and community engagement to foster confidence and self-sufficiency. We understand that caregiving is a lifelong commitment, and we work closely with families to ensure their loved ones receive the guidance and resources they need to thrive. Day Habilitation: Expanding Horizons

At Tiegerman Community Services (TCS), our Day Habilitation programs empower adults with developmental disabilities, by fostering life skills, independence, and community engagement. Each participant follows a personalized Habilitation Plan focused on communication, socialization, and real-world interaction. Through structured activities, individuals engage in meaningful in-house programs, volunteering, and recreational experiences aligned with their interests and potential careers.

Our Long Island Day Habilitation, in Westbury offers classrooms, a sensory room, and activities like academics, music therapy, and daily living skills. Our Queens Day Habilitation and Program Without Walls (PWW), in Richmond Hill incorporates technology, theater arts, and volunteer work. Bethpage PWW, serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties, provides full-day community immersion through social clubs, volunteering, and recreation.

TCS prioritizes individual choice, ensuring diverse programming tailored to participants’ skills and interests. Door-to-door transportation is provided for all programs.

Community Habilitation: Independence, One Step at a Time

Our Community Habilitation Services empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build life skills and foster independence. With a person-centered approach, we provide tailored support in daily living, community inclusion, social skills, travel training, self-advocacy, and behavior development.

Our 1:1 support model ensures individuals access resources in a natural, supportive environment. Each customized plan, developed with their support team, helps achieve personal goals—whether traveling independently, engaging socially, or enhancing self-sufficiency. At TCS, we are committed to fostering confidence and independence for a fulfilling life.

Employment & Career Services: Building a Future

TCS empowers adults with developmental disabilities through Supported Employment (SEMP) services via OPWDD and ACCES-VR, including the Employment Training Program and Pathways. We provide vocational training, career development, job placement, on-the-job coaching, travel training, and job retention support. With strong employer partnerships, we connect individuals to inclusive workplaces, offering tailored on-site and off-site training to ensure long-term success.

Our person-centered approach fosters independence, by equipping individuals with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the workforce. Through hands-on job coaching, career planning, and workplace accommodations, we provide continuous guidance to help individuals secure meaningful employment and build sustainable careers.

Residential Services: A Home to Grow In

Tiegerman Community Services (TCS) operates two Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs) in traditional family-style homes, creating a warm and supportive environment where residents can build meaningful peer relationships, while staying connected to their families. Our IRAs provide 24-hour supervision and personalized support for adults with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities, ensuring a structured and nurturing living experience. We currently have two residences: one in Farmingdale and another in Kings Park.

Our highly trained residential staff is equipped with expertise in person-centered planning, behavioral techniques, CPR, human development, and medical care. Ongoing training ensures the health and safety of those we serve. Committed to enriching lives, our program promotes independence, choice, and community involvement, creating a true home where individuals build meaningful connections and participate in social and recreational activities.

Respite Services: Supporting Families

We understand that caregiving is a 24/7 responsibility, and everyone needs a break. TCS’s Respite Services provide short-term relief, allowing families to recharge while ensuring their loved ones are in a safe, supportive environment. Respite care is essential for both individuals and caregivers, reducing stress, preventing burnout, and promoting overall well-being. Our structured programs help individuals develop social, communication, and daily living skills through activities such as academics, community outings, music therapy, creative arts, and technology training.

We currently offer Respite Weekend Programs for individuals ages 11 and up, focusing on play, socialization, and structured activities like physical education, recreation, and peer interaction. At TCS, we support not just the individual, but the entire family—because strong families create stronger, more independent individuals.
