Navigating the Tiegerman Admissions Process: A Path to Success
Dear Prospective Families,
Welcome to Tiegerman! Since 1985, our mission, “Giving Our Children a Voice” has been at the heart of everything we do. We know how important it is for children to feel supported, understood, and empowered, and we are committed to providing the specialized, language-based programs they need to thrive.
At Tiegerman, we believe that language and learning go hand in hand. Our classrooms function as “language laboratories,” where teachers and therapists work together to integrate language development into every academic lesson. This unique approach ensures that students receive individualized support in a nurturing environment, helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Choosing the right school is a big decision, and we know how much it matters to find a place where your child will be truly seen and supported. As an approved non-public school, our students come from Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Westchester, and all five boroughs, creating a diverse and welcoming community.
We’d love for you to visit and see Tiegerman in action! We offer monthly in-person tours, where you can see our classrooms, meet our dedicated team, and experience firsthand the warmth and structure that make our school so special.
If you have any questions or need help with the admissions process, please don’t hesitate to reach out at (516) 609-2000, ext. 323. Our team is happy to assist you in any way we can.
Thank you for your interest in Tiegerman. We look forward to welcoming your family into our community!
Warmest regards,
Rosemarie King

How to Apply: Admissions Process & Next Steps
School District Deferral
If your child is being referred by your Long Island or Westchester CSE or has a deferral through the DOE Central Based Support Team (CBST), his/her reports will be sent to us directly.
If we are not on the list of schools your child’s packet will be sent to, you can ask your CSE or CBST case manager to send it to us.
Applying to Tiegerman Directly
If you’re applying directly, please submit the required forms and reports listed below to our admissions team.
At Tiegerman, we offer rolling admissions, which means students can enroll throughout the year as space becomes available. Once we receive your completed application, our Admissions Committee will carefully review it to see if we have the right placement for your child.
We know that choosing the right school is an important decision, and we take the time to thoughtfully evaluate each application. If we believe your child may be a good fit, we’ll invite you both for a screening so we can get to know you better.
Since our admissions process is ongoing, students can be placed throughout the year. Our goal is to create a supportive learning environment where every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive.
