It is the responsibility of the classroom teacher to provide instruction aligned with state learning standards, students’ IEPs and establish curriculum that meets the needs of each individual student, to establish a nurturing and supportive learning environment, to monitor and evaluate student progress and behavior, and to work collaboratively with parents and other members of the school staff. NYSED Teacher Certification is required. The Classroom Teacher reports directly to the Coordinators and the Principal. Preschool Teacher position is an exempt position. Must hold valid NYSED Teacher certification in: Students with Disabilities Birth – Grade Two, Students with Disabilities All Grade
Salary Range: $53.5K – $75K *salary is determined by completed education and years of experience
Eligible positions may receive merit-based salary enhancements one or two times per school year. These are awarded as one-time distributions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in the classroom and all other areas of the school building
- Read, understand and implement each student’s Individualized Education Plan
- Participate in the development of Individualized Education Plans to address the needs of individual students and annual CPSE/ transition meetings
- Organize curriculum and instruction around developmentally appropriate thematic units
- Adapt instruction and materials to meet the individual needs, strengths and interests of all students
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress toward learning objectives and individual goals in order to inform instruction and provide feedback to students, parents, administrators and school districts
- Write and submit lesson plans, unit plans, annual classroom reports and other assigned paperwork in accordance with established guidelines and schedules
- Administer annual assessments to all students and accurately interpret and report test scores
- Manage student behavior in the classroom according to the established classroom management practices and Behavior Intervention Plans
- Maintain the confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and school policies
- Report incidents (i.e., accidents, unsafe conditions, suspected abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the health and welfare of students and the safety of the school environment in accordance with the state regulations and school policies
- Participate in various staff meetings as scheduled (i.e., student “staffings,” transdisciplinary meetings, teacher meetings, etc.)
