Longtime supporter, Joseph R. Ficalora has joined the Tiegerman Board of Directors.
Mr. Ficalora, a veteran of the Vietnam War, has led a life of service to organizations that have greatly benefited from his dedication and hard work. Under his leadership as President and CEO, New York Community Bank grew from a mutual savings bank with few branches to a multi-bank holding company.
Throughout his career, many institutions have benefited from Mr. Ficalora’s knowledge and leadership including his Alma Mater Pace University, where he serves on the Board of Trustees and on their Investment/Pension Committee. He has served on the boards of several banking institutions, and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Pentegra Retirement Trust and Pentagra Services, Inc.
Mr. Ficalora has a passion for community affairs. He serves on the boards of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, the Foreign Policy Association, Partnership for New York City, Flushing Cemetery, New York Presbyterian/Queens, and Nassau County Crime Stoppers, Inc.; and is Honorary Chairman of the Associazione Culturale Italiana Di New York. For his invaluable work, Mr. Ficalora was given the title of Commendatore (Knight) of the Italian Republic by the government of Italy. In addition, he has previously served as President of the Queens Library Foundation and as Chairman of the Board and of the Administrative Committee of the Queens Borough Public Library.
Mr. Ficalora’s long standing support of Tiegerman, which spans decades, has been integral to enabling Tiegerman to fulfill an important role in our community. Tiegerman is honored to welcome Mr. Ficalora to the Board. His dedication to our mission and his overwhelmingly inspiring body of experience will help guide Tiegerman into the future.
