Tiegerman School is a special education program servicing children with autism spectrum disorders from preschool through high school. At Tiegerman, our mission is to identify children with language and autism spectrum disorders early to provide educational programs which will prepare them for a world filled with words, sentences, stories and messages. Language is a symbol system; it provides the means to reach out to the world. Tiegerman is a 12 month program
Tiegerman Woodside (Queens) is looking for a Full Time Occupational Therapist to join our team!
Responsibilities
· Maintain and review student records
· Evaluate student progress and prepare reports that display their progress
· Assess students’ physical abilities
· Plan, organize and conduct OT sessions with students
· Meet with parents and teachers to communicate information pertaining to the students’ IEP
· Choose activities that assist students in learning life-management skills within limits of their abilities
· Recommend changes in environment that could assist students with their needs and capabilities
· Help students to improve their fine motor and visual motor skills
· Make recommendations and referrals as needed
· Maintain professional training by attending workshops
· Research resources and treatment methods for the students
· Design and create adaptive equipment for students
· All other duties as assigned
